Research interests and competence
- Telecommunications networks: design and experimental validation of backbone, metro and access networks based on optical and electronic transport (architectures, traffic engineering, network nodes, experimental prototyping) following the technological evolution of the discipline in the last twenty years.
- Wireless networks and systems: mobile radio networks contributing to the technological evolution from 2G networks to 5G networks to support public, industrial and IoT applications.
- Network softwarization: use of SDN / NFV techniques for network control, virtualization of services, multi-technology and multi-domain resources orchestration, service-oriented networks, network slicing.
- Electronics and opto-electronics: node architectures, opto-electronic interconnection matrices and on-chip network, photonic integrated networks.
- ICT applications: innovative vertical supported by “softwarized” networks for automotive applications, vulnerable users safety, entertainment, virtual operators and genomics.
